Kevin Castel highlighted the dangers for attorneys using the artificial intelligence tool ChapGPT where in they included citations of non-existent court cases and required these New York attorneys to pay a $5,000 fine for use of the non-existent cases. The decision highlights the importance in work that attorneys perform in drafting briefs by performing actual research and not relying on the artificial intelligence tool ChapGPT.
